What Content Do I Need to Provide for My Website?

A simple guide to what you’ll need to provide

One of the most common questions we get from new clients is:

“What do I need to give you for my website?”

Here’s a clear breakdown of what you’ll typically need to provide and what we’ll handle for you.

What We Need From You

Less is usually more in a website setting so keep your written content concise and focused

1. Written Content for Each Page

This includes the main text for page on your site that may include:

  • Home – a short welcome, what you do, your unique selling point

  • About – your story, mission, values, bio

  • Services or Products – a description of what you offer, how it helps, pricing if relevant

  • Master post for a case study / blog post

  • Contact – a short invite to get in touch, plus your email/phone/location

  • FAQs / Testimonials – optional but can be helpful

Tip: The previously agreed structural design that we will provide will act as a template to help you with how much text/copy you need to supply us with .

2. Images & Visuals

This should match the agreed structural design of your site and could include good quality:

  • Banner images - these may be your own images or stock images ( Unsplash is a great source of free to use images)

  • Brand or product photos

  • Team headshots

  • Portfolio or case study images

3. Branding, Colours & Fonts

If you already have branding we will request this at the start of your project:

  • Your logo (in high resolution or vector format if possible)

  • Your brand colours (hex codes or just your colour names)

  • Any font preferences (typefaces you love or already use) - note Squarespace offers many common fonts free to use - but some typefaces may require a licence and or extra fees our end to add in

Need new branding? No problem! We can introduce you to a logo / brand designer required.

4. Videos (Optional)

If you want to include videos please provide:

  • ( if using ) a link to Youtube or Vimeo for the video

  • OR if you want to host on the site - video files (MP4 preferred)

  • Short titles or descriptions if needed

  • A cover image for the video - usually a still from the video or a relevant photo

Tip: auto-play banner videos should be around 8->12 seconds, Keep other videos concise to keep visitors attentions.
